Today, we share the journey of Marina Jovanovska, a dedicated receptionist at the Mercure Hotel am Wittenbergplatz in Berlin.

What inspired you to pursue a career in hospitality?

"My journey started in a vibrant organization focused on environmental protection, where I engaged with diverse groups, from beneficiaries to government officials. 

This interaction sparked my passion for hospitality, despite my initial fears of entering an unfamiliar industry. 

Taking a leap of faith, I embraced the opportunity to join Accor for my first role, and it has been a remarkable adventure ever since."

How has your experience been working as a Receptionist with Accor?

"I was fortunate to be part of an incredible team, guided by an exceptional manager, who helped me learn the ropes and discover the magic of being a professional receptionist. 

Being part of Accor, a world-leading hospitality group, has been an exhilarating experience filled with innovation and emotion. 

Here, we prioritize meaningful connections with our guests while ensuring that they remain at the heart of everything we do, all while committing to environmental sustainability."

Can you share a memorable experience from your time as a Receptionist in hospitality?

"My job has been marked by many memorable moments, meeting and working with the best team. 

One event I will always remember is the 'Mercure baby,' who was born to a family who are our regular guests. 

The baby was born at a hospital, and the family returned to our hotel immediately after, making us feel like their extended family, welcoming the baby 'back home' for the first time."

What makes you proud in your role as a Receptionist?

"My proudest moments are all the positive guest feedback, every smile, and every new memory we create with our valued guests."

What does being a Heartist® mean to you?

"Heartist® means doing everything with feeling - with emotions and with a smile, being warm-hearted while welcoming our guests. 

It means showing passion and individuality and being able to fulfil my role with love."

What advice do you have for those considering a career in hospitality?

"To everyone who wants to join the hospitality sector, be bold and create your own unforgettable moments with people from all over the world. 

Every day is an adventure, a new challenge, and working with people means creating new friendships and unforgettable moments."
