A day in the life of a Cluster Housekeeping Manager

Working in hospitality is about more than just managing operations; it’s about creating memorable experiences for guests and leading with passion.

To explore what it’s like to manage housekeeping across multiple properties, we spoke with Ana Mamukishvili, Cluster Housekeeping Manager for Swissôtel Tbilisi, Mercure Tbilisi Old Town, and ibis Styles Tbilisi Center in Georgia.

Ana shared her journey, the highlights of her housekeeping career, and advice for those considering a career in hospitality.

What drew you to the hospitality industry?

"Traveling is my hobby, and working in hospitality is a great honor for me. I love making guests happy because it makes me happy too, and that’s what inspired me to start in this business.

My journey began when I was 18, studying travel and tourism in college. As part of the course, I worked in housekeeping at Grosvenor House in London for six months.

Later, I took on a guest relations role at Ascott Mayfair London. Living in London was amazing – Britain is a wonderful country, and it remains my favorite place even after living in several others."

How did your experience abroad shape your career?

"I spent four years living in London, which was where I met my husband. We eventually returned to Georgia to complete our studies, and I started working at the Holiday Inn before joining Accor.

I’ve now been with Accor for nine years, and I’ve experienced fantastic career growth here. Our hotels were the first Accor properties in Georgia, starting with Mercure, then ibis, and now Swissôtel.

I’ve seen how Accor has expanded in Georgia, and it’s been rewarding to be part of that journey."

What do you enjoy most about your role as a Cluster Housekeeping Manager?

"I’m proudest when we provide a warm welcome to our guests, and they express their gratitude for our service and support.

It’s also incredibly fulfilling when my team appreciates my leadership and management style. Their acknowledgement of me as a good leader makes all the hard work worthwhile.

In this role, being attentive, creative, and genuinely caring are essential qualities, both in how we interact with guests and how we support our colleagues. That’s what being a Heartist® is all about."

What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career?

"There are many special moments, but what stands out the most is when our guests take the time to thank us for making their stay exceptional.

Those expressions of gratitude remind me why I love working in this industry. It's those smiles and ‘thank yous’ that fuel my passion for hospitality."

What advice would you give to someone just starting in the hospitality industry?

"My first piece of advice is simple: always smile.

A positive attitude and professional presentation go a long way in making guests feel welcome. But beyond that, love what you do.

When you genuinely enjoy your work, it doesn’t feel like a job – it feels like a privilege."
