Job Description

The iconic Fairmont Banff Springs, nestled in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, is in search of a Director of Revenue Management.

Reporting to the Director of Sales and Marketing, the Director of Revenue Management works closely with other executive committee members and department heads to support guest service and colleague engagement throughout the hotel while at the same time maximizing overall hotel performance.

Job Description

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Maximizes net revenue contribution through a thorough understanding of market segments, booking channels and demand drivers for rooms, food and beverage and minor operating departments. Actively participates in total revenue management and evaluation of business opportunities.
  • Responsible for Revenue Management System (IDeaS). Responsible for forecast validation and daily interaction with system and the decisions produced, configuration and maintenance tasks related to the system.
  • Operationalizes hotel pricing strategies which are congruent with demand factors, promote integrity and protect long term customer value; through definition and management of rate levels, stay restrictions and other tactics in all distribution channels.
  • Monitors segment booking pace in order to determine pricing and availability controls for all reservation distribution sources and implements according to the strategy of the hotel. Monitors key indicators of hotel performance and third party intelligence sources to identify revenue opportunities.
  • Reviews competitive set pricing, yield strategies and completes analysis of the market and its opportunities based upon the competition. Coordinate updates/stay restrictions or rate changes to reflect the hotel's selling strategy in response to the market demand
  • Evaluates booking channel distribution models and opportunities for the hotel. 
  • Active participation in Fairmont Western Canada’s regional strategies and projects
  • Stay current with industry changes and how it may impact demand.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to execute e-commerce campaigns to support the hotel strategic marketing plans working within the established budgets.
  • Responsible for completion of all rooms and revenue forecasting, budgeting and planning to accurately project unconstrained demand and hotel performance in collaboration with the DOSM, Director of Finance, and General Manager.  Participates in the annual budgeting process with leadership team and ownership group.
  • Chairs weekly Revenue Management Meetings and presents weekly revenue agenda items.
  • Maintains records pertaining to market segments, transient pace numbers, forecasts, and other rooms data.
  • Work closely with DOSM and Director of Group Sales to optimize profit of the group segment by reviewing leads with a total profit optimization mindset.
  • Work closely with DOSM and Director of Marketing to optimize profit of all offers by reviewing marketing strategy and offer production with a total profit optimization mindset.
  • Coach resort reservations to ensure accuracy of direct booking channel configuration and efficiency in inventory management across all market segments. Cultivate the revenue maximization culture with the key reservations team members.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years as a Revenue Manager or Director required
  • Working knowledge & experience on IDEAS
  • Demonstrated creativity, innovation, and a willingness to take calculated risks.
  • Result-oriented approach with the ability to be flexible and perform effectively under pressure.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, complemented by superior written and verbal communication abilities.
