Discover Sofitel Sydney Wentworth – Where Heritage Meets Modern Luxury

Sofitel Sydney Wentworth, Sydney’s first international five-star hotel, is an icon of Australian hospitality in the heart of the city. Blending rich heritage with Sofitel’s signature French elegance and the vibrant energy of Sydney, the hotel offers a luxury experience with a distinctly local character.

Food & Beverage is at the heart of the hotel, with four distinctive venues that are destinations in their own right,  the Vietnamese-inspired Delta Rue, produce-driven and charcoal-led Tilda, sophisticated Bar Tilda, and the vibrant rooftop Wentworth Bar.

We’re building a dynamic team passionate about great hospitality and being part of the next chapter of one of Sydney’s most iconic hotels.

Job Description

As Restaurant Supervisor, you’ll play a key role in the day-to-day operation of Tilda, supporting Managers, and delivering exceptional service and guest experiences.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone ready to take the next step, take greater ownership on the floor and help bring out the best in the team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead the floor during service, keeping the team organised, engaged and focused on delivering an exceptional guest experience.
  • Create genuine guest connections and confidently manage feedback or service recovery.
  • Conduct pre-service briefings and ensure the team is prepared for daily priorities, menu updates, VIPs and special requirements.
  • Lead by example and provide hands-on coaching to build team confidence, product knowledge and service standards.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of Tilda’s food and beverage offering and support the team to make confident recommendations.
  • Oversee key shift operations, including opening and closing procedures, venue presentation and service readiness.
  • Work collaboratively across the venue and wider hotel, supporting private dining, events and activations as required.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a restaurant or premium hospitality environment, with supervisory or senior waiter experience highly regarded.
  • A strong understanding of restaurant operations and sequence of service.
  • Confident communication and leadership skills, with the ability to guide and motivate a team.
  • A genuine passion for food, wine and creating memorable guest experiences.
  • Strong organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to remain composed during busy services.
  • Confidence using POS and reservation systems, with experience in Oracle Simphony and SevenRooms ideal but not essential.
  • A current NSW Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) competency card.
  • Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
