Job Description

Fairmont St Andrews is seeking an exceptional Director of Events to lead, innovate, and elevate the resort’s events portfolio. This role is responsible for the strategic direction, commercial performance, and flawless execution of all events across the resort - ranging from high-profile weddings and luxury social events to international conferences, corporate retreats, and bespoke golf-related experiences.

As a key member of the senior leadership team, the Director of Events will champion Fairmont’s commitment to luxury service, operational excellence, and unforgettable guest experiences, while driving revenue growth and developing a high-performing events team.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Commercial Performance

· Develop and deliver a comprehensive events strategy aligned with Fairmont brand standards and the resort’s commercial objectives.

· Maximise revenue and profitability across all event streams, including weddings, MICE, social events, and special resort activations.

· Lead forecasting, budgeting, pricing strategies, and yield management for events.

· Identify new market opportunities, partnerships, and signature event concepts that enhance Fairmont St Andrews’ global reputation.

Operations & Guest Experience

· Oversee the end-to-end planning and execution of all events, ensuring seamless coordination across Events, Food & Beverage, Rooms, Golf, Spa, and external suppliers.

· Ensure every event is delivered to the highest luxury standards, with meticulous attention to detail and personalised service.

· Act as the senior escalation point for complex, VIP, or high-profile events.

· Maintain compliance with health & safety, licensing, and local regulations.

Team Leadership & Development

· Lead, mentor, and inspire the Events team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and accountability.

· Set clear performance objectives, conduct regular reviews, and support career development and succession planning.

· Ensure appropriate staffing levels, training, and resource planning to meet business demands.

Stakeholder & Relationship Management

· Build strong relationships with key clients, wedding planners, corporate partners, agencies, and suppliers.

· Collaborate closely with Sales & Marketing to convert leads, enhance brand visibility, and deliver compelling event propositions.

· Represent Fairmont St Andrews at industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities as required.


Qualifications

Essential:

· Proven senior leadership experience in events management within a luxury hotel, resort, or premium venue environment.

· Strong commercial acumen with a track record of driving revenue and profitability.

· Extensive experience managing high-end weddings, conferences, and large-scale events.

· Exceptional organisational, negotiation, and stakeholder-management skills.

· Inspirational leadership style with the ability to motivate and develop teams.

· Calm, solutions-focused approach in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment.

Desirable:

· Experience within a five-star or luxury hospitality brand.

· Knowledge of the Scottish, UK, and international events or weddings market.

· Passion for luxury service, attention to detail, and creating memorable guest
