Job Description

  • Conducting routine evaluations of network and data security
  • Locating and seizing chances to enhance and update software and systems
  • Creating and implementing the organization’s IT policy and best practice manuals
  • Creating workshops and training programmes for staff
  • Performing routine system audits
  • Running routine system operations reports and sharing them with top employees
  • Organizing and establishing deadlines for major IT projects such system updates, migrations, upgrades, and outages
  • Managing and reporting on the IT budget’s allocation
  • Advising the IT staff
  • Looking for opportunities to train and build teamwork skills
  • Developing new network troubleshooting strategies to help reduce downtime and decrease maintenance costs
  • Creating rational strategies for upgrading the company’s network software whenever a new update is available
  • Constructing and implementing plans to ensure the company’s network continues to operate smoothly in the event of a problem
  • Staying up to date with new network technology and reporting this information to the executive team each quarter
  • Working closely with other department Managers to assess the growth needs and maintenance of the company’s network

Qualifications

Educational requirements for IT Managers vary depending on the industry, complexities of the role and the number of leadership responsibilities. An IT Manager should have a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or another related field. Some candidates may also have a master’s degree in business administration, network security, computer science or another field. Candidates likely have studied subjects such as computer programing, software development, mathematics, IT management, wireless systems and server applications.
