Job Description

This position is responsible for assisting the Financial Controller in the daily operation of the Finance department, directly overseeing and assisting with accounts payable, receivables, and payroll processes

  • Process correct and timely payment of creditors accounts.
  • Process correct and timely payment of other accounts, e.g. expense claims, Prepayments, Petty Cash, CAPEX etc.
  • Ensure required authorisations and supporting documentation for all payments.
  • Reconcile all payments to Trial Balance, General Ledger, Balance Sheet and/or supplier’s statements.
  • Carry out End of Month procedures.
  • Maintain orderly files and records of payments and correspondence.
  • Provide required reports for office records, head office reporting, etc.
  • Maintain and update data in Accounts Payable computer program.
  • Send notification to superannuation companies of new and terminated team members.
  • Ensure general cashiering process are conducted accurately and cash banked in on a timely basis.
  • Assist with the Business Activity Statement (BAS) and other tax requirements.
  • Work with Heads of Department to develop effective measures to enhance their profitability.
  • Assist Assistant Financial Controller in the Monthly General Ledger reconciliations.
  • Process fortnightly payroll.
  • Interpret pay conditions under the relevant award or agreement.
  • Process payroll transfers through nominated bank.
  • Generate reports.
  • Generate monthly superannuation contributions to nominated funds.
  • Generate monthly payroll cheques/EFT payments

Qualifications

  • Passion for accounting and the hospitality industry and a genuine desire to advance in a hotel finance department.
  • Educational background in Finance & Accounting
  • Previous experience in similar role in a hotel context will be advantageous
  • Experience with Opera, Zambion, Purchase Plus will be advantageous
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure, priorities tasks and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Unlimited working rights
