Job Description

Job Title: Finance Manager  

Department: Finance  

Inspired and Supported by: Finance Controller   

 

Your purpose will be: As a Finance Manager, reporting to the Finance Controller, and taking charge of the day-to-day operations of the Finance Department. 

 

You will be accountable for: 

  • Managing the finance team, providing leadership and direction. 

  • Working closely with the Purchasing team to ensure all standards are followed. 

  • Supervising the accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and income audit functions. 

  • Ensuring the monthly payroll is carried out with a high level of accuracy and in line with company policies and SOPs. 

  • Handling the annual submission of the hotel's PAYE Settlement Agreement. 

  • Ensuring all Finance Operations comply with Internal Audit policies. 

  • Ensuring all Finance Operations comply with applicable legislation and external audit requirements. 

  • Preparing and posting journal entries, ensuring efficient completion, and managing the month-end process. 

  • Overseeing the cash flow process. 

  • Ensuring financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures. 

  • Monitoring and controlling procedures. 

  • Participating in the recruitment and training of new colleagues. 

  • Reviewing and completing monthly P&L reports, conducting monthly Balance Sheet reviews, and reporting to key stakeholders. 

  • Submitting quarterly/monthly VAT returns within the deadlines set by HMRC. 

  • Partnering with operational and support departments. 

  • Ensuring a strong control environment within the hotel. 

  • Reviewing and authorizing POs and expenses as required by company policy. 

  • Reviewing and authorizing all refunds and allowances. 

  • Reviewing and approving banking transactions within approved authorization limits. 

  • Assisting in financial audit preparation in conjunction with the group reporting manager. 


Qualifications

What you will need to do in this role? 

  • Accounting qualification – preferred not required 

  • Have a great attitude with a willingness to learn and make your mark. 

  • Enjoy managing a team and developing those around you. 

  • Be ambitious and eager to develop your career in luxury hospitality. 

  • Work closely with the Director of Finance & Business Support and the Executive team to drive the success of the business. 

  • Be a finance expert, preferably a qualified accountant with up-to-date knowledge and practice in all accounting practices. 

  • Possess excellent communication skills.
