Job Description

The Commercial Analyst performs analysis and applies a logical, structured, and disciplined approach to translate key financial and commercial aspects into actionable insights. He/she interprets and synthesizes data, exercises professional skepticism to challenge assumptions, and identifies meaningful insights to develop informed recommendations.

Pricing

  • Conduct A/B testing and price elasticity analyses, validating price optimization and promotion simulation results.
  • Continuously review price positioning versus competitors by market segment.
  • Monitor IDeaS pricing and forecast recommendations, and suggest actions aligned with monthly and yearly strategies.
  • Support pricing analysis for corporate, group, long-stay, and leisure segments—including group and catering pricing tools, group displacement analyses for major groups, and leisure pricing for monthly promotions and tactical offers.

Reporting

  • Assist in preparing for weekly revenue meetings.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Revenue and Director of Sales & Marketing to prepare weekly/monthly reports, including forecasts for all revenue streams (e.g., F&B and Spa).
  • Support the Digital Marketing team with performance analysis of online campaigns, and help identify future need periods to ensure digital marketing spend is optimized for business mix.

Analysis

  • Perform ad-hoc tasks and duties as directed by the Director of Revenue or Director of Sales & Marketing to support hotel revenue performance.
  • Utilize business intelligence tools (e.g., Axis BI, Demand 360, STR, Opera Reporting) to identify trends, risks, and pricing considerations.
  • Lead special projects related to market research and competitor activity analysis.

Data Integrity

  • Work closely with the Reservations Manager to ensure data input integrity, quality assurance standards, and up-to-date rate codes.
  • Maintain, update, and share market segment and demographic analysis using tools such as Opera, IDeaS, InTouchData, and TARS Tool.
  • Monitor the accuracy of group and catering block data entries and ensure discrepancies are corrected by the Events team.
  • Conduct OTA audits to ensure rate parity across all online channels.

Revenue Culture and Training

  • Develop and implement on-the-job revenue culture and Excel training for relevant team members.

Daily Duties

  • Update the daily pickup report.
  • Monitor room availability.
  • Monitor group blocks.
  • Track the performance of leisure promotions, update the availability chart, and recommend pricing updates 90/180/365 days out.
  • Update reports to track the impact of promotional programs.
  • Maintain and update all third-party websites daily.
  • Maintain and update the GDS (via CRS) and Opera systems.
  • Oversee tasks related to IDeaS.
  • Monitor the upselling program and flag ineligible transactions.
  • Monitor partner allocation and notify management of any breaches.
  • Collaborate closely with the Reservations Manager and Director of Rooms to monitor and adjust overbooking policies based on market mix, daily activity, historical wash, and lead times.
  • Perform spot checks on reservation and front office data inputs; correct discrepancies and provide targeted training as needed.
  • Ensure proper market segmentation and rate code assignment for confirmed business.

Meetings

  • Attending: Weekly revenue, reservations, group, leisure, and pricing meetings.
  • Supporting: Budget and forecast meetings.
  • Conference Calls: Monthly Revenue Managers conference calls.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Previous experience or internship in revenue management preferred
  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
