Job Description

Job title: Steward 

Department: Back of House, F&B 

Inspired & supported by: Back of House Manager 

Salary: £29,070 (including service charge) 

 

Your purpose will be: 

To carry out all required duties within the Back of House department and all related areas and ensure 5-star safety and hygiene standards are maintained. 

 

You will be accountable for: 

  • To uphold good housekeeping standards to ensure a safe, clean and pleasant working environment 

  • To comply with all Health and Safety at Work, especially COSHH and Manual Handling regulations, pertaining to this position in the department and to ensure that you attend all training sessions that are provided and training is logged. 

  • To ensure standards with personal hygiene and grooming are consistently met. 

Your key responsibilities & contribution will be: 

  • To assist in the preparation of operating equipment for functions, inventories and other requirements and distribute 

  • To wash and polish all operating equipment and cooking utensils and examine cleanliness before distribution 

  • To empty bins and clear and sort refuse for operating equipment according to hotel policy 

  • To thoroughly clean and disinfect all areas related to refuse when required 

  • To wash, disinfect, degrease, dry and polish all floor surfaces, walls, kitchen equipment and other equipment before, during and after each meal service and when required. 

  • To assist in the preparation of operating equipment for functions, inventories and other requirements and distribution. 

  • To assist with the cleaning of operating equipment during banquet functions or at peak periods in back-of-house areas related to the outlets 

  • Assisting to maintain staff facilities clean including locker rooms and etc. 


Qualifications

What you will need to do in this role: 

  • 1-3 years’ experience in the Hospitality Industry 

  • Intermediate communication skills, both written & verbal. 

  • Able to work well under pressure in fast-paced and changing environment 

  • Proven organizational skills, work well on their own, able to set and meet deadlines with quality results. 

  • Enthusiastic and positive personality with the ability to build trusting relationships with others 

  • Willing to work on rotating shifts including weekends and public holidays 

  • A confident & dynamic speaker, able to communicate and interact effectively with all levels of an organization 

 

Please note that we believe in flexibility and multi-skilling, and you may be asked to do different tasks from time to time to enable us to meet the needs of our guests and colleagues.
