Located just outside the University town of Maynooth, County Kildare; Carton House, A Fairmont Managed Hotel, is a luxury resort set on 1,100 acres of private parkland. Owned by the US-based Mullen family since December 2017, the hotel re-opened in June 2021 after an extensive refurbishment as Ireland's first and only Fairmont property and the oldest in the prestigious collection. With 1,100 acres of sweeping parkland, ancient woodlands, lakes, and the meandering River Rye, the resort is home to 2 championship golf courses, state of the art sports training facilities, award-winning Spa & Wellness facilities, impressive conference and banqueting facilities catering up to 500 people as well as 169 guest bedrooms.
As one of Ireland’s most exquisite national treasures, when you arrive at Carton House you enter a place rich with over three centuries of history. It is certainly not your typical hotel; history lies around each and every corner. Built-in 1739 and originally the ancestral home of the Earls of Kildare and the Dukes of Leinster, this hotel was once at the heart of Irish history. We are currently recruiting a Recruitment Officer to join our growing Talent and Culture team at Carton House. This is an excellent opportunity for a HR professional to take the next step in their career.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sourcing and attracting suitable candidates.
- Conduct initial HR Screening and shortlist applications.
- Work closely with all departments with regard to recruitment requirements and changing business needs.
- Act as single point of contact for designated candidates for all recruitment related questions.
- Assess candidates to ensure qualification match and cultural fit.
- Conduct reference checks on applicant before liaising with HR to make offer.
- Represent Carton House at recruitment fairs and university career days.
- Oversee Transition Year programme for resort.
- Manage new starter on boarding process including greeting employee on first day, issuing uniform and assisting with staff accommodation where necessary.
- Work proactively and independently, within the HR function.
Key Requirements:
- A relevant third level qualification.
- Minimum one year experience in a busy HR department.
- Knowledge on employment visas.
- Display professionalism and confidentiality; tactful and diplomatic in challenging situations.
- Ability to multi-task, work well under pressure and use own initiative.
- Professional written and verbal communication.
- Flexible, adaptable and ability to travel on a regular basis to present at career fairs and college visits.
- Flexible in approach to job role and working day.
- Strong administrative background with proven attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience in Hospitality desirable but not essential.
