Job Description

Purchasing Manager

Join Hawar Resort by Mantis as our Purchasing Manager and be the architect behind the scenes. You'll play a pivotal role in crafting the resort's success story, from securing the freshest seafood to sourcing eco-friendly linens. This is an opportunity to build your legacy on an island paradise, where every purchase echoes with the spirit of Hawar.

What is in it for you:

  • Engage in conservation efforts and help preserve wildlife.
  • Enjoy sustainable adventures with exclusive rewards.
  • Celebrate locality and heritage in a vibrant community.
  • Advance your career with global development opportunities.
  • Drive change through impactful social initiatives.
  • Collaborate with a passionate, innovative team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sourcing & Supply Chain: Establish and maintain a robust supply chain for the seamless flow of local ingredients and luxury amenities, fostering abundance for the resort. Cultivate strong vendor ties, secure optimal deals through ethical and sustainable practices, avoiding exploitative impact. Predict demand, optimise stock levels, and eliminate empty shelves for smooth resort functioning. Collaborate with chefs to source premium ingredients, ensuring each dish reflects Hawar's unique flavours.
  • Team & Leadership: Assemble a dedicated procurement team, fostering collaboration, excellence, and commitment. Safeguard Hawar's beauty through eco-conscious procurement, local sourcing, and waste minimisation.
  • Financial Optimisation: Identify hidden savings, negotiate effectively, and ensure resort financial prosperity and stability. Minimise spending, transform expenditures into value, and guide the resort towards enduring success through strategic data analysis.
  • Risk Management & Compliance: Anticipate and mitigate supply chain challenges, ensuring operational smoothness and a secure environment. Uphold ethical and legal best practices, comply with regulations, and establish a legacy of responsible sourcing.
  • Communication & Relationship Building: Cultivate robust relationships with vendors, stakeholders, and internal teams. Clearly communicate procurement plans, needs, and expectations for a cohesive approach towards shared success.
  • Strategic Planning & Analysis: Develop a procurement roadmap aligned with resort goals, market trends, and future projections. Analyse data for continuous improvement, optimising performance and elevating the resort to greater heights of excellence.
  • Market & Competitor Analysis: Stay ahead by monitoring trends in hospitality, luxury goods, and sustainable sourcing. Adapt procurement strategies to seize emerging opportunities and differentiate Hawar's offerings as an innovative leader.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a relevant role, preferably within hospitality or luxury resort settings, with experience in the pre-opening phase. Local candidates are advantageous.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in procurement or a related field.
  • Supply Chain Management: Possess a strong understanding of supply chain management, sustainability practices, and responsible sourcing principles. Proven track record in negotiating contracts, reducing costs, and managing inventory.
  • Communication Skills: Display excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse stakeholders.
  • Language Skills: Fluency in English is required, and proficiency in Arabic is a plus.

About Mantis Collection: Mantis is a boutique hospitality group that was founded by conservationist Adrian Gardiner in 2000, with its main focus predominantly in Africa and the Middle East. Mantis grew from Adrian’s vision to restore and rewild degraded farmland which he developed into a widely-acclaimed Private Game Reserve. This was the first private game reserve in the Eastern Cape and the beginning of eco-tourism in a poverty-stricken province that had few opportunities outside of commercial farming. Adrian and the Mantis team successfully created a place where man and nature could co-exist sustainably. From this initial success, the Mantis model was then developed worldwide, understanding that consumers could use the Mantis portfolio as a mark of quality, consistency and character. Today the diverse portfolio of handpicked properties links up to create travel journeys, which offer guests the opportunity to experience the essence of the location in a setting of tailored luxury. Rooted in conservation, Mantis pursues sustainable business practices and develops tourism products that are respectful of the environment and communities in which they operate.

Do what you love, care for the world, dare to challenge the status quo! #BELIMITLESS
