Job Description

Job Title: Painter/Decorator   

Department: Engineering                     

Inspired and supported by: Engineering supervisors and Engineering manager

Salary: £37,320 

 

Your purpose will be:

To maintain and enhance all interior and exterior finishes of the building. To highlight any opportunities to improve and enhance the building.    

 

You will be accountable for:

  • Maintaining paint and paper finishes in all areas 
  • Seeking opportunities to improve the look and finish of all areas
  • Keeping open good lines of communication with all departments and within the department

Your key responsibilities & contribution will be:

  • Keeping all paint finishes in the building up to standard
  • Paper hanging including wide vinyl paper  
  • High standard of preparation work to ensure quality finish
  • To regularly check paint stock and to report to supervisors what needs ordering
  • Communicate rooms and areas needing repair and time lines on how long the work will take 
  • To meet all service standards in every guest interaction
  • To keep all equipment and tools provided by the hotel are kept in good repair
  • To work well alongside other departments and other trades within the department to ensure smooth running of the hotel
  • Communicate any delays due to any unforeseen problems in a timely manner so expectations can be managed  
  • To keep work areas clean and tidy at all times and use signage provided by the hotel
  • Coverage of night shifts when needed in areas that cannot accessed during operational hours
  • Maintaining a high standard of personal grooming and appearance 

Qualifications

What you will need to do in this role?

Essential:

  • 3 – 5 years experience in painting and decorating
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written with the ability to communicate effectively with people of all levels
  • Enthusiastic and positive personality with the ability to build trusting relationships
  • Ability to multi task and problem solve in a fast paced environment
  • Keen eye for detail
  • Proven organisational skills works well on your own. Able to set and meet deadlines with quality results
  • Flexibility to work different shifts including night shifts 

Desirable:

  • 1 – 3 years experience in luxury hospitality environment
  • City and guilds qualification in painting and decorating   

 

Please note that we believe in flexibility and multi-skilling, and you may be asked to do different tasks from time to time to enable us to meet the needs of our guests and colleagues.
