Job Description

Novotel Birmingham Centre is looking for an experienced Meetings, Events & Groups Coordinator to join our commercial team on a full-time basis (39 hours per week), with a salary of £26,830.44 per annum plus benefits. We are seeking a commercially minded and highly organised hospitality professional who is passionate about sales, converting enquiries into business and delivering exceptional customer service. This role is ideal for someone who is more than an administrator; we're looking for a confident relationship builder with a sales mindset who enjoys winning business and taking ownership of enquiries from initial contact through to successful handover to operations.

Situated in the heart of Birmingham, Novotel Birmingham Centre is a 148-bedroom hotel offering nine versatile meeting and event spaces. The hotel welcomes a diverse range of corporate, group and leisure guests, creating a dynamic and fast-paced environment. As a key member of the team, you will play a pivotal role in driving revenue, developing strong client relationships, and ensuring every meeting, event and group booking is planned and delivered seamlessly, with an exceptional guest experience at the heart of everything you do.

As Meetings, Events & Groups Coordinator, you will:

  • Manage meetings, events and group accommodation enquiries from initial enquiry through to confirmation and handover.
  • Respond to enquiries promptly and professionally, ensuring all opportunities are maximised.
  • Convert enquiries into confirmed business through proactive follow-up and relationship building.
  • Prepare proposals, quotations, contracts and event documentation.
  • Manage group room blocks, rooming lists, cancellations, payments and terms and conditions.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure all enquiries and bookings are updated within hotel systems.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales, Reservations, Front Office and Operational teams to ensure seamless delivery.
  • Conduct hotel show rounds and host client familiarisation visits.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with local businesses, agencies and repeat clients.
  • Support the hotel's revenue goals through upselling and commercial awareness.
  • Assist with forecasting, reporting and analysis of business opportunities and conversion performance.
  • Ensure company and brand standards are consistently followed.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience within a hotel Sales, Events, Groups, Reservations or Front Office role.
  • A genuine passion for sales and converting enquiries into revenue.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Confidence in preparing quotations, negotiating and upselling opportunities.
  • Strong administrative and system skills.
  • A proactive approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with both Sales and Operations teams.
  • Commercial awareness and a focus on achieving revenue and conversion targets.
  • A positive attitude and ownership mindset from enquiry through to event delivery.
