Company Description

Why Essendi?

We are Essendi – the operators of this hotel and your employer. Our ibis Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof is a hotel on the up: within just a few months, we’ve improved all our key performance indicators, modernised the rooms and been upgraded from 2 to 3.5 stars – and we’re far from finished.

As part of the ibis brand and the Accor world, you’ll enjoy real benefits – from discounted stays in hotels around the globe to discounts with many partners. You can find out more about this world at careers.accor.com.

Job Description

Here’s what we offer:

A secure job – full-time, permanent, starting immediately or by arrangement.
A 13th month’s salary and statutory holiday pay – your hard work pays off.
30 days’ holiday to recharge your batteries.
€50 a month via the Essendi staff portal – e.g. for the Deutschlandticket. Your workplace is right next to the main station: a short walk, a relaxed commute.
Staff meals during your shift.
Heartist staff rates across the Accor group worldwide – plus discounts with many partners such as Nespresso, Apple, SIXT and HelloFresh.
Further training through the Accor Academy – including during working hours.
Career development opportunities – within our hotel and globally across the Accor group.

This is your job:

As a building technician, you’ll keep our 155-room hotel running smoothly – working independently, from the basement to the roof. You’ll report directly to our Director.

You’ll regularly maintain and inspect our systems and equipment – electrical, plumbing and air conditioning/ventilation are all part of your remit.
You resolve faults quickly, roll up your sleeves and find practical solutions.
You manage external partners yourself: where necessary, you bring them in, coordinate their work and monitor the quality.
You check all areas of the hotel for safety and take immediate action if anything is amiss.
For our guests, you are a friendly point of contact for any questions about the hotel.

Qualifications

What you bring to the role:

Technical skills in electrical work, plumbing or air conditioning/ventilation – ideally with experience in building services or domestic engineering.
Career changers welcome: if you have a solid technical background, you’ll be right at home with us.
You work independently, are solution-oriented and reliable, and keep a clear head even in stressful situations.
A sense of responsibility – the hotel is in good hands with you.
A friendly manner towards guests and colleagues.
Willingness to work the odd weekend – our hotel is open to guests seven days a week.

Additional Information

Your team & your working environment:

You’ll be joining an ambitious team that’s genuinely passionate about their work. Together, we’ve achieved a great deal in a short space of time: improved figures, modernised rooms, and the upgrade from 2 to 3.5 stars. The lobby and public areas are also constantly evolving – they’re becoming more attractive step by step. If you’d like to help shape this journey from a technical perspective and truly see ‘your’ hotel as your own, you’ll be a perfect fit for us.

Diversity & Inclusion:

We’re an employer that embraces diversity. We want to attract and nurture talent from a wide variety of backgrounds, and offer them an environment where everyone can contribute. What matters to us is who you are and what you can do.

Diversity & Inclusion for Accor means welcoming each and everyone and respecting their differences by giving priority only to qualities and skills in extending employment and development opportunities. Our ambition is to provide meaningful employment, a warm and welcoming culture, excellent working conditions and to promote the development of all people, including those with disabilities.
