Job Description

Mercure Canberra has an exciting opportunity to join our Front Office Team as a Duty Manager. Reporting to the Front Office Manager, you will lead the team in ensuring the highest possible standards of professionalism and guest experience in all areas of the hotel.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading the smooth day-to-day shift operation within the Front Office Department
  • Supervision, support and training of Front Office Team Members to ensure standards and procedures are observed to provide a consistent, high level of service for all guests.
  • Dealing effectively with guest complaints and feedback in an efficient and professional manner and liaise with the Front Office Manager or General Manager to provide relevant action to resolve any issues.
  • Ensuring all revenue for the day is accounted for with daily summary being completed to balance daily activity.
  • Ensuring there is management support and presence visible on Front Desk and in the lobby during key times throughout the day. 
  • Ensuring a thorough and clear handover of information to Team Members on the following shift in order to ensure continuity of service.
  • Taking responsibility for the health and safety of all visitors, guests and team members.

Qualifications

If you meet the below criteria, we would love to hear your story:

  • Previous experience in a Hotel Front Office Team is essential to be successful in this role.
  • You will posses strong administration, communication and time management skills, with a proactive approach to generating fantastic guest feedback.
  • Availability to work varied shifts from early mornings, late evenings and occasionally overnight, including weekends.
  • Posses a string background in Front Office proceedures and Opera PMS.
  • Remaining calm and willing to steer the team through any complex situation that may occur.
  • Providing guidance, support, training and leadership to the team.
