Job Description

Utilize the existing data base and free market information to pursue and cultivate prospective accounts. This action includes the development & maintenance of key prospecting account listings.

The position is responsible for soliciting a combination of Group and Local Catering inquiries from the small social and meetings market, with both client-facing sales and servicing elements:

  • Prompt response to all business leads in an effort to capture additional market share.
  • Negotiate prices, prepare accurate proposals and confirm business via contracts or Banquet Event Orders.
  • Solicit from and confirm with clients all information pertaining to the event or group they are planning to organize and collect information for an accurate file turnover once the event is confirmed and ready to be introduced to the Event Services Team.
  • Conduct site inspections for business leads as required.
  • Communicate effectively with interdepartmental teams such as Revenue Management, Marketing, Event Services, and operational divisions.
  • Role will include servicing and detailing of short-term bookings, including preparation and distribution of Banquet Event Orders in alignment with the hotel’s Function Distribution Process.
  • Active participation in departmental meetings, team building efforts and other like activities.
  • Active participation and ownership of team and individual prospecting efforts, including but not limited to client entertainment and corporate sales initiatives.
  • Work independently within given parameters and maintain a positive attitude within a very busy environment;
  • Able to handle many tasks at once with strong organizational and supervisory skills.
  • Maintain high quality of service standards required by the hotel and company.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or Hotel Management degree/diploma preferred.
  • Opera and Microsoft application literacy required.
  • Prior Sales experience in hotels selling group and/or local catering strongly preferred.

Physical Aspects of Position (included but not limited to):

  • Frequent sitting throughout shift.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs.
  • Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting.
  • Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps.
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times.
