Job Description

We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Demi Chef de Partie to join our culinary team in Nairobi, Kenya. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will work closely with the Chef de Partie to ensure smooth operations and maintain high standards of food quality and presentation.

  • Assist the Chef de Partie in managing daily kitchen operations and food preparation
  • Ensure smooth processes and maintain a clean, organized kitchen environment
  • Prepare for shifts, including mise en place and inventory management
  • Execute dishes according to recipes and presentation standards
  • Collaborate with team members to maintain efficient workflow, even during busy periods
  • Participate in live cooking demonstrations and contribute to menu development
  • Adhere to food safety and hygiene standards at all times
  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff
  • Assist in managing food costs and minimizing waste
  • Contribute to creating innovative dishes and exploring international cuisines

Qualifications

  • Completed formal training as a chef or culinary arts degree/ diploma
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a professional kitchen setting
  • Strong knowledge of various cooking techniques and international cuisines
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Passion for culinary arts and a desire to continuously learn and improve
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Proficiency in kitchen equipment operation and maintenance
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and hygiene standards
  • Creativity and enthusiasm for developing new dishes and flavor combinations
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items when necessary
