Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Commis to join our culinary team in Miri, Malaysia. As a junior member of our kitchen staff, you will play a crucial role in supporting our chefs and ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen while delivering exceptional dining experiences to our guests.

  • Assist in the preparation of ingredients, including washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning
  • Support senior chefs in various cooking tasks and food preparation
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation, adhering to all health and safety standards
  • Help with the proper storage and labeling of food items
  • Assist in the plating and presentation of dishes
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient food service
  • Participate in kitchen cleaning and maintenance tasks
  • Learn and follow recipes and cooking techniques as directed by senior chefs
  • Assist in inventory management and stock rotation
  • Communicate effectively with kitchen and front-of-house staff
  • Contribute to a positive and team-oriented kitchen environment

Qualifications

  • Certificate or Diploma in Culinary Art, fresh graduates are encouraged to apply
  • Basic knife skills and food preparation knowledge
  • Familiarity with kitchen equipment and tools
  • Ability to follow recipes and cooking instructions accurately
  • Knowledge of food allergies and dietary restrictions
  • Understanding of hygiene and safety standards in food service
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong teamwork and collaborative mindset
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on exceptional food quality and presentation
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Well-groomed appearance and good personal hygiene
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn and grow in the culinary field
