Job Description

Position Overview:

Raffles & Fairmont Doha is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Commis 2 to join our esteemed culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for cooking and a strong desire to learn and grow in a fast-paced kitchen environment. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals looking to build a career in the culinary arts and gain valuable experience in a world-class hotel.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Food Preparation:

    • Assist in the preparation of ingredients and dishes under the supervision of senior chefs.
    • Follow recipes and guidelines to ensure consistency and quality in all dishes.
    • Perform basic cooking tasks such as chopping, peeling, and measuring ingredients.
  2. Cooking:

    • Cook and plate dishes according to the standards set by the Head Chef.
    • Ensure that food is cooked and presented in an appealing and timely manner.
    • Maintain knowledge of all menu items and seasonal offerings.
  3. Kitchen Operations:

    • Maintain a clean and organized work station.
    • Assist in the daily cleaning and maintenance of kitchen equipment and facilities.
    • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including food safety and hygiene standards.
  4. Team Collaboration:

    • Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure a smooth and efficient service.
    • Communicate effectively with senior chefs and other team members.
    • Assist in the training of new kitchen staff as needed.
  5. Inventory and Stock Management:

    • Assist in monitoring and managing food stock levels.
    • Report any shortages or quality issues to senior chefs.
    • Assist in the proper storage and rotation of ingredients to minimize waste.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a kitchen environment is preferred but not required.
  • Basic knowledge of cooking techniques and food safety standards.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to learn and take direction from senior chefs.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
