The hotel features our Cliveden Bar & Dining; extensive Conference & Event facilities; Executive Lounge; Swimming Pool and Health Club. The role reports to the Director of Operations Office. 


Job Description

The Chief Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the entire engineering and maintenance operations of the property. This includes ensuring that all building systems, facilities, and equipment are functioning efficiently and safely. The role requires strong leadership skills, extensive technical knowledge, and the ability to manage a team of engineers and maintenance personnel to uphold the hotel's high standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Management:

  • Lead and manage the engineering department, including hiring, training, and developing the team. Foster a positive and productive work environment.
  • Ensure all team members are trained on safety, emergency procedures, and standard operating procedures.

Maintenance and Operations:

  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of all hotel facilities, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive preventive maintenance program.
  • Ensure that all equipment and systems are functioning optimally and efficiently.

Project Management:

  • Plan, coordinate, and manage engineering projects, including renovations and new installations.
  • Collaborate with contractors, architects, and designers to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Monitor and control project expenditures.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with all local regulations, including health and safety standards.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits.
  • Implement and oversee emergency response procedures.

Energy Management:

  • Develop and implement energy conservation programs to reduce costs and environmental impact.
  • Monitor energy consumption and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Report on energy usage and savings.

Budgeting and Financial Management:

  • Prepare and manage the engineering department’s budget.
  • Monitor and control expenses to ensure they are within budgetary limits.
  • Develop cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or safety.

Guest and Staff Support:

  • Ensure prompt and efficient resolution of maintenance issues affecting guests or staff.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support their engineering and maintenance needs.
  • Maintain a high level of guest satisfaction through timely and effective maintenance services.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role in a luxury hotel environment.
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale engineering operations and projects.
  • Strong technical knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Education:

  • Relevant educational qualification / Professional engineering certification or license is an advantage.
