We are seeking a talented and experienced Chef de Partie (Halwai) to join our culinary team in Visakhapatnam, India. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for overseeing the preparation of traditional Indian sweets and savory snacks, ensuring the highest quality and authenticity of our offerings.
- Plan and execute the preparation of a wide range of Indian sweets and savory snacks, maintaining consistency and quality
- Manage and coordinate activities within the Halwai section of the kitchen
- Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards, including HACCP regulations
- Train and supervise junior kitchen staff in Halwai specialties
- Maintain optimal inventory levels and minimize food waste
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef to develop new recipes and menu items
- Monitor food costs and contribute to cost-effective operations
- Participate in menu planning and special event preparations
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of kitchen equipment
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Communicate effectively with other kitchen sections and front-of-house staff
- Proven experience as a Chef de Partie or in a similar role, specializing in Halwai cuisine
- In-depth knowledge of Indian sweets and savory snacks, with a focus on regional specialties
- Culinary degree or diploma from a recognized institution (preferred)
- Food safety certification
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities
- Proficiency in inventory management and cost control
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills in English and local languages
- Creativity and passion for developing new recipes and presentations
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items when necessary
