Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Catering, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:   

  • Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service;
  • Actively engage in sales of meeting space and book various types of events, including but not limited to:  Meetings, Dinners, Receptions, Weddings, Social and Protocol events, etc;
  • Achieve monthly – yearly goals as set out by the Director of Catering;
  • Conduct site inspections, achieve entertainment goals, activity goals and revenue goals;
  • Confirm all event related information with clients during finalizations;
  • Establish and maintain excellent rapport with clients, prior to, during and post event, encouraging repeat business (relationship building);
  • Book and organize all bookings from date of booking to departure, including meeting requirements, guest room requirements, guest room pickup, food & beverage and audio visual;
  • Create floor plans for each event to ensure banquets and clients are in agreement prior to set up;
  • Initiate billing procedures, ensuring any deposits and/or credit applications are received with adequate information and within an acceptable time frame and following full hotel credit procedures;
  • Conduct pre-conference meetings with clients and pertinent departments to confirm all relevant details are communicated when required and create event resumes when required;
  • Conduct and/or attend daily BEO meeting to review event contracts and ensure last minute changes are communicated with appropriate departments;
  • Follow departmental policies and procedures;
  • Follow all safety  policies;
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, prioritizing and being able to assess when additional hours are required;
  • Other duties as assigned;
  • Be available for evening and weekend work when required or as directed;
  • Professional attitude and attire at all times;

Qualifications

  • Previous leadership experience within a similar role required;
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Window applications required;
  • University/College degree in a related discipline preferred;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal required;
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities;
  • Highly responsible & reliable;
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times;
  • English required, Bilingual with French an asset;
