Job Description

As Business Development Manager – Groups and Events, reporting to the Director of Sales & Marketing,  you will focus on driving sales for Groups and Events across Banquets, Business, Leisure, Sport, and Entertainment for Economy, Midscale, and Premium hotels in Wellington. You'll collaborate with the Sales & Revenue teams to generate leads, ensure conversions, and implement strategic sales plans, whilst working closely with the Conference Executive on event delivery.

  • Proactively acquire group and event revenue, ensuring optimal distribution and achieving conversion targets set by the Director of Sales & Marketing.
  • Assess sales performance and collaborate with the commercial team to adjust sell strategies for improved profitability and conversion.
  • Generate leads and support event contract provisions alongside the Conference Executive for Mövenpick and Novotel Wellington.
  • Utilize data insights to drive outcomes, record proactive calls, and manage the Groups and Events pipeline via Accor’s CRM.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with Leisure Group clients and destination partners while promoting Accor’s channels and services.
  • Respond to group RFPs, prepare personalized sales proposals, and follow up on all group opportunities, ensuring accurate communication and maximizing event value.

Qualifications

  • 3 years+ of hotel industry experience in a Sales environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Opera (or similar systems), and CRMs like Salesforce, with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Self-motivated, target-driven, with excellent communication and relationship-building abilities; a team player who thrives in a goal-oriented environment.
