Job Description

What You Will Be Doing: 

  • Manage through active floor presence with hands on management of functions and colleagues 

  • Build strong relationship with Conference Service and Sales Managers to execute on client needs, expectations, and timelines 

  • Execute Banquet Event Order’s (BEO’s) line by line and ensures all expectations are exceeded 

  • Accessible and visibile to all clients on site throughout events 

  • Supervise the setup of event spaces to ensure setup matches diagram and all details outlined in the BEO (AV, chairs, linens, silver, glassware, etc.)  

  • Oversee the breakdown of the function room and ensure proper storage of equipment 

  • Manage functions within labor, service and CBA guidelines 

  • Responsible for departmental financials including expenses, month-end review, and annual forecasting  

  • Ensure innovative banquet presentations and setups are aligned with brand standards 

  • Work with Culinary and Stewarding leadership to conduct monthly inventory of all equipment and maintain proper par levels 

  • Responsible for labor management; weekly schedule; and weekly payroll 

  • Advise all colleagues of established standard operating procedures set out by the department, hotel, CBA, and brand  

  • Establish high standards of quality service and maintains them through effective training and continuous development 

  • Conduct colleague shift briefings and facilitates regular meetings 

  • Responsible for employee engagement and develop action plans to focus on improvement year over year 

  • Responsible for all department recruitment, corrective actions, and performance reviews 

  • Focus on guest satisfaction scores and works to meet Hotel goals 

  • Resolve all guest and colleague complaints 

  • Routinely inspects meeting space and communicates work orders for the Engineering Department to maintain rooms in excellent condition 

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, sanitation and alcohol awareness standards 

  • RAMP and ServSafe Certified an asset 

  • Consistently offers professional, engaging and friendly service 

  • Other duties as assigned 

 


Qualifications

Your Skills and Qualifications Include:  

 

  • Minimum 2 years progressive Food and Beverage Management experience, preferably in Banquets or luxury setting 

  • College Degree in related discipline advantageous  

  • Experience in a union environment an asset 

  • Computer knowledge, particularly POS (MICROS) and Microsoft Office  

  • Hands on management style with ability to prioritize and lead through example 

  • Strong organizational skills 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with great communication ability 

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
