As our Assistant Security Manager, you’ll help lead the security operation across the hotel, protecting our guests, team members, property and Mama’s unique atmosphere. You’ll be visible, calm and confident — keeping standards high without ever losing the warm, welcoming spirit of the brand.

HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

🛡️ Safety & Security Guardian

• Support the Security Manager in overseeing the day-to-day security operation across the hotel
• Ensure the safety and security of guests, team members, visitors and hotel assets
• Maintain a visible and reassuring security presence throughout the property
• Monitor security risks and take proactive action to prevent incidents

🚨 Incident Response Expert

• Respond quickly and professionally to security incidents, emergencies and guest concerns
• Lead or support emergency response procedures when required
• Investigate incidents and prepare accurate reports and follow-up actions
• Liaise with local authorities and emergency services when necessary

👥 Team Leader & Coach

• Support, guide and motivate the Security team
• Allocate duties, monitor performance and ensure appropriate coverage across shifts
• Coach team members on security procedures, guest interaction and emergency response
• Help build a professional, alert and service-minded security culture

📹 Security Systems & Surveillance Pro

• Monitor CCTV, access control, alarms and other security systems
• Ensure security equipment is operational and issues are escalated promptly
• Monitor access to restricted areas and ensure appropriate controls are maintained
• Review security logs and reports to identify potential risks or recurring issues

🔍 Risk & Prevention Champion

• Conduct regular security inspections and risk assessments
• Identify vulnerabilities and recommend practical improvements
• Support the implementation and review of hotel security procedures and SOPs
• Ensure key control, lost & found, access management and incident reporting procedures are followed

🤝 Collaboration Champion

• Work closely with Front Office, Housekeeping, Engineering, F&B and People & Culture
• Support departments with security advice and risk prevention
• Balance security requirements with Mama’s relaxed, guest-focused atmosphere
• Build strong relationships with colleagues while maintaining professional boundaries

📋 Compliance & Standards Guardian

• Ensure compliance with local legislation, hotel policies and health & safety requirements
• Support regular security drills, emergency preparedness and training
• Maintain accurate security records, reports and documentation
• Assist the Security Manager with audits, inspections and investigations

• You have strong hotel security experience, ideally within lifestyle, luxury or high-volume hospitality 🏨
• You have previous supervisory or leadership experience within a security operation
• You’re confident managing incidents calmly and professionally under pressure
• You have strong knowledge of security procedures, emergency response and risk management
• You understand CCTV, access control and other hotel security systems
• You’re observant, proactive and naturally alert to potential risks
• You’re confident leading and developing a diverse team
• You have strong communication skills and can work comfortably with guests, colleagues and management
• You’re professional, discreet and trusted with sensitive information
• You can balance security, safety and exceptional guest service
• You thrive in a fast-paced, energetic environment and are happy to be hands-on ⚡

• Experience with lifestyle, luxury or design-led hospitality brands
• Strong knowledge of local security regulations and emergency procedures
• First Aid / Fire Safety / relevant security certifications
• Experience working with police, civil defence or other local authorities

WORK AUTHORISATION 🌍

• Applicants must already hold valid work rights/work authorisation for South Africa. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Candidates must be legally eligible to work in the country where the role is based.
