Originally constructed in 1888, Hotel Woolstore 1888 is the fourth oldest of the 21 surviving wool stores in Sydney. Transformed into a luxurious hotel, this five-level sandstone and brick building features 90 meticulously designed guestrooms, a multi-award-winning neighbourhood restaurant and bar, and a range of all-inclusive spaces for meetings and events.

Job Description

We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced Assistant Manager or Duty Manager to join our team in a part-time role. At Hotel Woolstore 1888, we bring a twist to hospitality, always finding new ways to celebrate local culture and spark joy. As the shift lead, you will play a crucial role in overseeing daily operations. You will train and support team members, setting the bar for passionate, genuine, and thoughtful hospitality.

You’ll manage inquiries and feedback, ensuring the highest level of guest recovery, while fostering open communication across departments. Your role will be instrumental in creating a positive work environment by motivating and inspiring the team, and promoting a culture that emphasizes workplace health and safety. You will also assist with revenue optimization, prepare team rosters, and support the recruitment, training, and development of the Front Office Team.

Qualifications

  • Previous leadership experience in a hotel – a strong focus and passion for hotel operations
  • Good interpersonal skills with ability to communicate with all types of guests and of team members 
  • Confident and articulate communicator, negotiator, and relationship builder
  • Flexible and able to embrace and respond effectively to change
  • Available to work within a rotating roster, including weekends, holidays and nights
