    As Assistant Director, Conference Services & Catering, you are a true owner of the event experience. You bring vision, accountability, and innovation to every conference and celebration, leading a high-performing team and shaping event offerings that elevate the Fairmont Banff Springs reputation while driving results. Your leadership ensures seamless execution, energized colleagues, and events that consistently exceed expectations.

    Competitive Salary: $100,000-$106,000 gross annually, based on previous experience & education

    Job Duties Include:

    Reporting to the Director of Conference Services, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:   

    • Lead, inspire, and develop a team of Conference Services Managers and Coordinators
    • Own the execution of large and complex conferences from contract definite through on-site delivery, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, flawless execution, and revenue optimization.
    • Drive innovation in event creation by developing new, creative event offerings aligned with industry trends, guest expectations, and new revenue opportunities, always focused on how we make special happen
    • Oversee and direct all Conference Services office activity, ensuring service standards, brand expectations, and operational best practices are consistently met.
    • Play an active role in financial ownership, contributing to the preparation, execution, and achievement of annual budgets and business plans.
    • Establish and maintain strong client relationships prior to, during, and post conference, consistently exceeding expectations and driving repeat and referral business.
    • Conduct site inspections and client walkthroughs as required, confidently showcasing Fairmont Banff Springs and tailoring experiences to client needs.
    • Ensure accuracy, quality, and timeliness of all function bookings, group resumes, event contracts, and banquet event orders.
    • Partner closely with the Director of Conference Services to prepare and manage weekly and monthly forecasts, balancing demand, space optimization, and operational capacity.
    • Balance operational excellence, administrative priorities, and colleague engagement to support a high-performing team

    Qualifications

    Your Skills & Qualifications:

    • Previous leadership experience within a similar role required
    • Computer literate in Microsoft applications and relevant computer applications required 
    • University/College degree in a related discipline as asset.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal required
    • Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
    • Highly responsible & reliable
    • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
    • Proactive, detail oriented, and able to work collaboratively across teams to drive results and deliver memorable experiences
