Job Description

Commis Server         

Department: Food & Beverage, All-day-dining: Gallery  

Inspired and Supported by: Restaurant General Manager

Salary: £32,655 including service charge

Your purpose will be: As a Commis Server in our all-day dining restaurant, you play a key role in delivering an exceptional dining experience. With a warm and professional approach, you will support the front-of-house team, ensuring seamless service while upholding the highest standards of hospitality.

 

You will be accountable for:

  • Service Excellence: Assisting in the smooth operation of the restaurant by setting up tables, delivering food and beverages promptly, and maintaining impeccable cleanliness.
  • Guest Engagement: Providing a warm and welcoming experience, anticipating guest needs, and responding promptly to requests.
  • Support to the Team: Assist servers, bartenders, and supervisors in all aspects of service, including mise-en-place, table maintenance, and replenishing supplies, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
  • Operational Efficiency: Keep all stations impeccably stocked, clean, and organised to support flawless service throughout breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner.
  • Menu & Beverage Knowledge: Develop a deep understanding of the menu, wine list, and beverage offerings to confidently assist guests with recommendations and accommodate dietary requirements with finesse.
  • Maintaining Standards: Following all service procedures and adhering to health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work seamlessly with the kitchen, bar, and front-of-house teams to maintain a refined and efficient service flow.
  • Waste Reduction & Sustainability: Follow best practices in waste management, recycling, and responsible handling of food and beverages.
  • Adaptability & Multitasking: Seamlessly shift between front-of-house and back-of-house duties as needed to support the overall efficiency of the restaurant.

Qualifications

What you will need to do in this role?

Essential:

  • 1–3 years of experience in the hospitality industry, ideally in a restaurant or hotel setting.
  • Passion for delivering outstanding guest service in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and stay organised under pressure.
  • A positive, proactive, and professional attitude.
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in a luxury hotel or high-end restaurant.
  • Knowledge of POS systems and basic cash-handling skills.
  • Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations.

 

Please note that we believe in flexibility and multi-skilling, and you may be asked to do different tasks from time to time to enable us to meet the needs of our guests and colleagues.
