Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Accounting Manager to join our team in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. As the Accounting Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial operations of our organization, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and contributing to the company's financial success.

  • Direct and manage all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger operations
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Oversee the budgeting process and provide regular financial forecasts and reports to senior management
  • Manage and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering a collaborative and goal-oriented work environment
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data
  • Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations
  • Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, opportunities for cost savings, and areas for improvement
  • Manage cash flow and treasury operations, optimizing working capital management
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support decision-making processes
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in accounting standards and tax regulations, ensuring organizational compliance

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required)
  • CPA, CMA, or MBA (preferred)
  • Minimum of 4 to 7 years in similar position, preferably in the hospitality industry
  • In-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards
  • Strong proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel
  • Experience with hotel management systems (e.g., Opera) is a plus
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail
  • Strong leadership abilities with experience managing and developing accounting teams
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills in English; fluency in Spanish is highly desirable
  • Proven ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Knowledge of local tax regulations and compliance requirements in Mexico
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders
  • Strong organizational skills with a focus on meeting deadlines and achieving financial goals
