Job Description

Every memorable dining experience at Sheraton Suites Calgary Eau Claire begins behind the scenes with our culinary team’s commitment to safe, efficient operations and exceptional cuisine. Your passion for managing food preparation as the Second Cook, will inspire your team to create truly spectacular fare.

What you will be doing:

  • Offer professional, friendly and proactive guest service consistently while supporting fellow Colleagues
  • Assist with the preparation and presentation of baked goods, including breakfast pastries, desserts, cakes, and specialty items
  • Prepare and serve all food items for buffet, banquet, and pastry menus in accordance with hotel recipes and standards
  • Contribute ideas, feedback, and suggestions actively with the team including input on new pastry and dessert offerings
  • Maintain proper rotation of products to minimize waste and spoilage
  • Knowledgeable of all menu items, including banquet and pastry offerings
  • Ensure cleanliness and proper maintenance of all work areas, utensils, and equipment, including pastry tools and baking equipment
  • Adhere to kitchen policies, procedures, and service standards at all times
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation regulations when handling food and beverages, particularly in the preparation of perishable baked goods
  • Ensure timely preparation, setup, and replenishment of buffet stations, plated service items, and dessert displays

Please note: The start date for this role will be in July, with an end date of December 31st, 2025


Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:

  • Minimum of 2 years' culinary experience in a similar setting is required 
  • Food Handler Certificate Alberta is required
  • Actively working towards Journeyman’s papers or international equivalent is an asset
  • Diploma/Certification in a Culinary discipline an asset
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities ensuring guest needs met while remaining calm and courteous 
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
