Job Description

Reporting to the Stewarding Manager and Executive Chef, the Stewarding Supervisor plays a key leadership role in supporting the stewarding team to ensure smooth operations, flawless event execution, and the highest standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and organization. This position requires strong staff management skills, hands-on support for events, and a commitment to upholding Fairmont’s established service and luxury standards in every aspect of stewarding operations.

  • Team Leadership & Staff Management
    • Supervise, train, schedule, and mentor stewarding team members to achieve consistent performance aligned with Fairmont standards.
    • Lead by example, fostering teamwork, accountability, and a culture of excellence.
    • Provide coaching, performance feedback, and corrective action when necessary.
  • Operational & Event Controls
    • Oversee daily stewarding operations to ensure kitchens, banquet spaces, and back-of-house areas consistently meet Fairmont’s cleanliness and organizational standards.
    • Coordinate stewarding support for banquets, events, and outlet operations, ensuring seamless service, efficient timelines, and proper use of equipment.
    • Maintain event controls by managing staffing, equipment, and supplies for set-up, execution, and breakdown, always upholding Fairmont’s commitment to excellence.
  • Health, Safety & Compliance
    • Ensure all stewarding practices comply with HACCP, health and safety regulations, and Fairmont protocols.
    • Conduct regular inspections of back-of-house areas, identifying and correcting any deficiencies immediately.
    • Train staff on safe handling of chemicals, waste, and equipment to safeguard both employees and guests.
  • Financial & Resource Management
    • Assist in managing departmental labor and operating costs, while minimizing breakage and wastage.
    • Maintain accurate inventory controls for stewarding supplies and equipment.
    • Support initiatives to drive efficiency while maintaining Fairmont’s luxury service and quality standards.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Previous supervisory or management experience in stewarding, kitchen operations, or hospitality, ideally within a luxury hotel environment.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse team.
  • In-depth knowledge of HACCP, sanitation, and occupational health and safety standards.
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Commitment to upholding and exceeding Fairmont’s luxury service standards.

Additional Information

Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):

 

  • Constant standing and walking throughout shift
  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
  • Constant pulling, pushing, kneeling and lifting.
  • Frequent ascending or descending ladders, stairs or ramps.
