Job Description

We are excited to announce the creation of a new Sous Chef role working closely with our talented Head Chef, Ben. This newly established position is designed to be a key support to our Head Chef and will play an integral role in our kitchen’s success. It’s a crucial role, with immense potential for growth and career progression.

We are seeking a passionate, dynamic individual who is eager to contribute to the kitchen's creative vision, drive excellence, and be part of a team that values culinary innovation.

Training and mentorship will be provided to ensure you have the skills and knowledge to succeed in this important role.

Your duties include:

  • Supervision of kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef
  • Maintain excellent presentation standards
  • Lead team members by setting a positive example
  • Assist Head Chef with new menu preparation and ensuring adequate supplies
  • Have strict stock control procedures implemented and maintained ensuring minimum wastage
  • Liaise with Restaurant team members regarding any changes to menu items
  • Assist Head Chef with preparation of rosters
  • Cultivate positive work environment and assist Head Chef in development of kitchen team members

Qualifications

  • Must have previous experience in a similar role in the hotel industry
  • A strong understanding of food cost and control
  • A strong understanding of food safety requirements
  • Strong product knowledge of seasonal ingredients
  • Culinary trade qualification
  • Computer & administrative skills
  • Must have valid full Australian working rights – sponsorship is not available for this role
  • Available to work flexible rosters and PM shifts
