As a Server at Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, you will be the face of our renowned dining experience, representing the exceptional service and world-class cuisine that define our brand. What you will be doing:
- Guest Service: Consistently deliver professional, thoughtful, and sincere service to each guest, ensuring they feel valued and appreciated.
- Menu Knowledge: Assist guests with food and beverage menu items in an engaging and informative manner, demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of all offerings.
- Beverage Expertise: Possess a strong understanding of our beverage list, including wine varietals and regions, and provide detailed descriptions of all red and white wines by the glass. Stay informed of seasonal promotions and beverage specials.
- Food Knowledge: Have in-depth knowledge of all menu items, garnishes, contents, and preparation methods to offer guests personalized recommendations.
- Dietary Awareness: Be attentive to dietary restrictions and allergy concerns, ensuring clear communication with guests and colleagues as needed.
- Service Standards: Adhere to all outlet policies, procedures, and service standards to ensure consistent excellence.
- Safety and Sanitation: Follow all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverages.
- Efficiency and Quality: Ensure the prompt delivery of high-quality food and beverages, maintaining attention to detail throughout the service process.
- Mise en Place & Side Stations: Maintain proper setup of all mise en place and side stations in the outlet to ensure smooth operations.
- Event Setup and Service: Perform function room setups and tear-downs, including the arrangement of tables, chairs, cutlery, and linens. Provide service in a private dining room setting for both day and night functions.
- Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues, ensuring effective communication with kitchen and service staff for timely and efficient service.
- Supporting Roles: Assist with food delivery, bussing, and resetting tables in a fast-paced environment. Also, create specialty coffees and operate an espresso/specialty coffee machine as needed.
- Additional Duties: Undertake other duties as assigned to contribute to the success of the team and the guest experience.
To be successful in this role we ask that you have:
- 1-2 years of serving experience in an upscale dining environment
- Serving It Right certification
- Fluency in both written and spoken English
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to address and resolve guest inquiries and concerns promptly and courteously
- Ability to remain calm and focused on guest needs in a fast-paced environment
- Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet service demands
- A high level of responsibility, reliability, and punctuality
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, and weekends
- A collaborative spirit and the ability to work cohesively with a team
- Experience with point-of-sale systems is a plus
- Impeccable grooming and presentation
- A warm and sincere approach to guest interactions
Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):
- Constant standing and walking throughout the shift
- Frequent lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs
- Regular kneeling, pushing, and pulling
- Frequent ascending and descending ladders, stairs, and ramps
- Ability to carry three or more entrée plates at one time
