Job Description

The Opportunity:

As a Senior Banquet Manager, you are responsible for ensuring the seamless execution of high-profile events, from weddings to gala dinners, by leading a dedicated team and maintaining exceptional service standards. Their role is pivotal in creating memorable guest experiences, fostering interdepartmental collaboration, and upholding the hotel's reputation for excellence.

In this role you are responsible for:

  • Daily Operations: Oversee daily banquet operations, including bar and room setups, ensuring readiness and standards.
  • Service Culture: Build a service-oriented team providing engaging, memorable events like weddings and gala dinners.
  • Staff Development: Coordinate with Banquet Leaders for staff selection, training, and development to maintain hotel standards.
  • Event Coordination: Attend pre- and post-convention meetings, follow event details, and support banquet leadership in execution.
  • Facility Management: Inspect banquet facilities and equipment regularly, addressing any deficiencies.
  • Interdepartmental Collaboration: Foster positive relationships with culinary, stewarding, and catering teams to ensure seamless operations.
  • Client and Team Engagement: Maintain client relationships, hold monthly meetings, and support colleague engagement programs to drive morale and performance.

Qualifications

What we’re looking for:

  • College degree in Hospitality management or related field preferred
  • 4+ years' experience as a Banquet Manager
  • 5+ Years of Food and Beverage leadership experience
  • Experience in leading/ overseeing banquet servers, porters & bartenders
  • Experience in labour forecasting & management
  • Experience in Unionized environment an asset

Physical Aspects of Position (included but not limited to):

• Frequent walking throughout shift

• Occasional lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs

• Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting

• Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
