Job Description

What you will be doing:

Reporting to the Bell Captain, the Bellperson will support their manager in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of Bell Services, Door, and Valet Services. Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining a high level of professionalism in all aspects of job performance.
  • Providing all arriving guests with a warm welcome, and acting as a first and last point of contact for guests.
  • Responsible for the delivery of Guest’s to their room, luggage, messages and any other items for delivery within the hotel.
  • Ensure the timely and efficient transfer of luggage to and from the guest’s room.
  • Personalize guests’ orientation of their room in a professional, friendly and engaging way.
  • Keeping Door area and Lobby impeccable at all times.
  • Knowledgeable of Vancouver, our attractions, directions, cultural scene, etc.
  • Maintain presence in the lobby as an ambassador of our hotel and brand, providing thoughtful touches and offering exceptional service to our guests
  • Assist guests regarding hotel facilities in an informative and helpful way.
  • Follow department policies, procedures and service standards, including all safety policies.
  • Responsible for driving the hotel car to shuttle guests around Vancouver as required.
  • Performing any other tasks as assigned by management.
  • Availability for shift work, including weekends, mornings, and evenings.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in Bell or Guest Services is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, and manage multiple tasks, colleagues, and guest requests.
  • Strong passion for guest service with excellent guest service orientation and training skills.
  • Exceptional communication and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in Opera or a similar Property Management System, with strong computer skills, including Microsoft Windows applications.
  • Previous experience with Royal Service or guest recovery systems is a plus.
  • Valid BC driver's license required; must be able to drive both manual and automatic vehicles.
  • Flexibility to work various hours, including holidays and weekends, as business needs dictate.

Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to)

  • Must be able to stand on feet throughout the shift, with intermittent periods of walking;
  • Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to 25 lbs at shoulder height;
  • Must be able to occasionally push/pull up to 75 lbs
  • Must be able to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive hand & arm movements frequently, and squeezing & overhead reaching occasionally. 
  • Must be able to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, walk on uneven surfaces on an occasional basis;
  • While primarily an indoor job, must be able to walk outside in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, snow, heat);
  • Must be able to climb stairs occasionally, both indoors and outside in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, snow, heat).
