Job Description

The Public Area Supervisor is responsible for supervising the cleanliness, maintenance, and presentation of all hotel public areas to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for guests and Heartists. This role oversees Public Area Attendants, coordinates daily cleaning schedules, ensures compliance with hotel brand standards, hygiene regulations, and health & safety requirements, and supports guest satisfaction through excellent service.

Operational Responsibilities

  • Supervise the daily cleaning and maintenance of all public areas, including:
    • Hotel lobby and reception.
    • Public restrooms.
    • Restaurants and bars.
    • Meeting rooms and banquet foyers.
    • Corridors and elevators.
    • Fitness centre and recreational facilities.
    • Back-of-house public areas.
    • Staff facilities.
  • Conduct routine inspections to ensure cleanliness and hotel brand standards are maintained.
  • Assign daily work schedules and cleaning tasks to Public Area Attendants.
  • Ensure all cleaning activities are completed efficiently and on schedule.
  • Coordinate deep cleaning programs and special projects.
  • Monitor the condition of furniture, fixtures, carpets, marble floors, glass, and public facilities.
  • Report maintenance issues promptly using the hotel's maintenance system.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of Housekeeping experience in a hotel.
  • At least 1 year in a supervisory role is preferred.
  • Experience with international hotel brands is an advantage.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of housekeeping operations and cleaning procedures.
  • Familiarity with cleaning chemicals and equipment.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office and hotel systems).
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
