Job Description

Job Title: Proactive Groups & Events Sales Manager – MICE

Department: Sales & Marketing                          

Inspired and Supported by: Director of Entertainment Sales

Your purpose will be: To grow existing accounts and identify new ones within the Groups & Events Market, build strong relationships with key stakeholders, deliver business opportunities that align with the hotel’s financial goals and maximize revenues.

 

You will be accountable for:

  • Business Development and Account Management for the Groups & Events Market
  • Displaying a hands-on, proactive approach to new business & client entertainment.

 

Your key responsibilities & contribution will be:

  • Proactively target and grow new and existing Groups & Events accounts, seeking out new opportunities to maximise profit
  • Creation and fulfilment of comprehensive Account Development plans for key accounts/partners
  • Organise own sales missions and sales calls
  • Conduct sales research and sales activity via telesales, site/hotel show rounds, entertaining clients, attending relevant trade shows, client evenings and fam trips to build relationships and grow market share
  • Attend relevant and appropriate Groups & Events networking events and trade show & ensure follow up is done post event
  • On a daily basis assist the Groups and Events teams with the conversion of key enquiries
  • Identify and manage Groups & Events opportunities with local and national commercial partners, to ensure maximum visibility for the hotel
  • Possess a full understanding of the Groups and Events marketplace/key drivers, analyse and report on market information
  • Meet your sales targets while driving standards and productivity.
  • Ensure all sales activity is tracked in Delphi/Salesforce and all account profiles are accurate
  • Analyse Groups & Events Pick Up & Pace on a regular basis, ensuring action is taken where necessary
  • Contribution to monthly and quarterly reports as required

Qualifications

What you will need to do in this role?

Essential:

  • Level: minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Fluent English, written and spoken – and an enjoyment and aptitude for writing.
  • Strong negotiation skills and able to pro-actively sell.
  • Confident with the sales process, a keen eye for detail, an organised approach and a willingness to exceed client expectations.
  • Proactive approach to work, your duties and learning.
  • A self-motivated person who is passionate about succeeding in Hospitality sales.
  • Great inter personal skills, positive can do attitude and warm personality.
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills with great attention to detail.
  • High level of I.T skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • You have had experience in hotel PMS systems.
  • Ability to work well under time pressure.
  • Full and Clean Driving License to drive in the UK

Desirable:

  • An understanding of luxury brands and the hospitality industry.
  • You will also ideally already have some experience in a similar Sales role, ideally gained within hospitality or a comparable industry such as Travel, Leisure or Luxury Retail.
  • Competency in second European language (such as French, Spanish or Italian) would be of benefit given diversity of geographical client mix.
