We're looking for a People & Culture Manager to join The Balfour. Under the guidance of the General Manager and the regional People Team, the People & Culture Manager will lead all aspects of the People function such as recruiting, onboarding, engagement and relations to name a few. You'll play a key role in building a team that loves what they do in an environment where people thrive.
What you'll do...
- Execute the People & Culture Department’s long-term people plan and play a role in its design.
- Maintain a consistently high level of engagement amongst the team.
- Champion The Balfour and Ennismore values and behaviors to ensure they permeate all areas of the business.
- Work with managers to resolve any team issues and concerns promptly.
- Administer various People & Culture programs across the property, including recruitment & onboarding, benefits communication and administration, training, and recognition programs.
- Ensure the managers of each department maintain compliance with applicable laws and practices.
- Exercise strong judgment in evaluating situations and recommending solutions relating to our team.
- Partner with the Payroll and Finance teams to ensure accurate and timely processing of all information regarding pay & benefits.
- Use feedback from team surveys, mystery shoppers and your own observations of the team to create, coordinate and lead training initiatives.
- Develop a program of ongoing team events.
- Support learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for team members.
- Oversee and manage employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Coordinate recruitment efforts with recruiting and hiring managers, including coordinating/attending internal and external job fairs, conducting interviews, accepting resumes and applications, maintaining a flow in an applicant tracking system.
- Support the onboarding process by providing appropriate onboarding documents, welcoming new hires, coordinating first day and necessary training including safety, policies, new hire orientation.
- Maintain Team Member files and accurate HRIS system. .
- Manage termination process, conduct exit interviews and respond to employment related claims.
- Ensure performance review process is followed from hire through employment; feedback on performance is offered consistently throughout a team member's journey; support is offered and all team members are offered programs to help them discover their best selves.
What we're looking for...
- At least 3 years of progressive Human Resources experience in a hotel or a related industry, preferably in an upscale or lifestyle brand hotel
- College Degree in Business, Hospitality, or Related field preferred. SHRM certification a plus.
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations required
- Ability to create, implement and monitor hotel and staff goals, strategies and policies
- Excellent computer and system skills, proficient understanding of Computer systems such as: Opera, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, HRIS systems, Canva, Social Media platforms etc. is strongly preferred.
- Ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and other HR platforms
- Ability to prioritize and adapt to the changing needs of the operation.
- Possess a gracious, friendly, and fun demeanor
- You have lots of energy and motivation, a natural at managing and inspiring others in a way that gets the best out of them.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Fluent in Spanish and English required.
