With a prime location on Gigiri’s Limuru Road, fairly close to Nairobi’s city centre and Village Market, it will attract UN and NGO delegates, consultants and contractors, as well as diplomats, leisure visitors and the local community.


Job Description

 

  • To carry out all masonry work within the confines of the hotel on walls, floors, or any other items as directed.
  • To perform repairs to wall plaster and renderings.
  • To perform repair work in interior and exterior building walls.
  • To carry out erection work of new walls and demolition work of existing walls as directed by the supervisor or the Chief Engineer.
  • To carry out repairs on existing wall and floor tilework and to lay new tiles as instructed.
  • To be thoroughly familiar with all regulations regarding safety at work and observe these meticulously at all times.
  • To observe cleanliness at the place of work and on the job after completion of work.
  • To ensure cleanliness of appearance and uniform, particularly when working in guest areas.
  • To be entirely flexible and adapt to rotate within the different sub sections of the Engineering Department.
  • To carry out any other reasonable duties as assigned by the Engineering Supervisor and the Chief Engineer.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in all manner of masonry refurbishment, and maintenance plus basic knowledge of one other building operations skill set.
  • The ability to use all general repair tools, read shop drawings and specifications,    make rough estimates of required materials.
  • The ability to work independently with good interpersonal skills.
  • A creative, practical and pro-active approach to problem solving
  • An energetic and dynamic personality.
  • High School graduate, related technical or trades certification.
  • At least 5 years’ experience as a civil technician, preferably in the hospitality Industry and/or in an engineering environment.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to work cohesively as part of a team.
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times.
