Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Maintenance/Handyperson to join our Engineering team on a full-time basis.
Reporting to the Chief Engineer, this hands-on role is responsible for maintaining the hotel’s plant, equipment, and facilities to ensure a safe, functional and welcoming environment for guests and team members.
You will be responsible for:
- Assisting with the day-to-day maintenance and repair of the hotel’s facilities, plant and equipment
- Conducting routine plant and equipment checks, identifying faults and carrying out repairs where required
- Performing preventative maintenance tasks in line with schedules and operational requirements
- Responding to maintenance requests across guest rooms and public areas in a timely manner
- Liaising with contractors and internal departments to ensure all work is completed efficiently
- Maintaining accurate records of maintenance work, repairs and inspections
- Ensuring all tools and equipment are used and stored safely and correctly
- Supporting the team to minimise downtime and return out-of-order areas back into service quickly
- Upholding workplace health, safety and environmental standards at all times
This role is ideal for a hands-on maintenance professional who enjoys problem-solving, working independently, and contributing to a high-performing hotel operation.
Qualifications
We’re looking for someone with:
- Previous experience in hotel maintenance, facilities maintenance, or a similar role
- Demonstrated experience in general building maintenance, repairs or engineering environments
- A relevant trade qualification (desirable but not essential)
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, can-do attitude
- Ability to work independently and effectively manage priorities
- Experience using hand tools and maintenance equipment safely
- Good communication skills and the ability to work across departments
- Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including weekends and on-call requirements where needed
