Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and driven Junior Sous Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team at Spice Central Kitchen & Bar. Reporting to the Executive Chef, this role supports the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, ensuring high standards of food quality, presentation, and hygiene. You’ll play a key role in mentoring junior chefs, managing prep and service, and contributing to menu development and cost control.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee food preparation and service to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Support and mentor junior kitchen team members.
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness, equipment care, and food safety standards.
  • Assist with stock control, ordering, and minimising wastage.
  • Contribute to menu planning, specials, and seasonal offerings.
  • Ensure compliance with HACCP, WHS, and Accor brand standards.

Qualifications

We are looking for a hands-on leader with a strong culinary background and a passion for delivering memorable dining experiences. You’ll bring creativity, attention to detail, and a collaborative spirit to the role. To achieve this you will need:

  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (minimum).
  • Previous experience in a similar role within a hotel or high-volume restaurant.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and kitchen operations.
  • Experience in mentoring and leading junior team members.
  • A flair for innovation and a passion for seasonal, local ingredients.
  • Available to work on a 7-day rotating roster, including public holidays and weekends where required. 

Unlimited working rights in Australia is a must. Work visa sponsorship will not be provided.
