Job Description

What you will be doing:

  • Possess a complete understanding of the menus and syllabus
  • Ensure all food is prepared according to the recipes and standards specified by the Chef and Chef de Parties
  • Delegate and assign duties to Cooks Assistants to ensure a consistently high level of productivity
  • Contribute ideas to Seasonal menu development and assist in the creation of Fresh Sheet items, Tasting Menu items etc
  • Demonstrate the importance of food and labour cost
  • Monitor and communicate Food Safe Standards to ensure all food is properly stored, labeled and rotated
  • Promote professional work habits and contribute to a maintaining a safe and positive environment
  • Other duties assigned

Qualifications

Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:

  • Journeyperson’s papers, Red Seal or equivalents
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a hotel or kitchen of comparable size and must be within last 5 years (recent experience)
  • Completely fluent English language and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Successful completion of practical cooking test
  • Must hold a Food safe certificate
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong artistic skills in food presentation
  • High level of responsibility and commitment
  • Team player with proven success in relationship building
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills and ability to effectively train and develop co-workers
  • Commitment to providing excellent service and exceeding guests' expectations
  • Available to work flexible shifts
  • Physically capable of:
    • Continuous standing for extended periods of time
    • Frequent lifting and carrying of up to 50lbs
    • Working in hot and cold environments
