Located on the doorstep of Brisbane’s Roma Street Parklands, Mercure Brisbane Spring Hill is a recently renovated 179-room hotel combining contemporary accommodation, refreshed facilities and a new food and beverage offering. With a strong focus on creating memorable experiences for our guests and a great place to work for our team, we’re an exciting hotel to be part of as we continue to grow and evolve.

Job Description

We’re looking for a skilled and hands-on Handyperson to join our Maintenance team at Mercure Brisbane Spring Hill. With our hotel newly renovated and continuing to evolve, this is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in keeping our guest spaces, facilities and back-of-house areas looking their best.

You’ll be a practical problem-solver who takes pride in your work and enjoys variety. From putting the finishing touches on our newly refreshed spaces to keeping everything running smoothly day to day, no two days will be the same.

In this role, you will:

  • Carry out a variety of general maintenance and repairs across the hotel, including basic carpentry, plumbing and electrical tasks.
  • Complete painting, patching and finishing works to maintain our newly renovated spaces to a high standard.
  • Conduct regular inspections and proactively identify and resolve maintenance issues.
  • Install, repair and maintain fixtures, fittings, furniture and hotel equipment.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to maintenance requests from guests and team members.
  • Keep tools, equipment and work areas organised, safe and well maintained.
  • Work closely with the Maintenance team, hotel departments and external contractors to deliver quality outcomes.
  • Assist with basic grounds and outdoor maintenance when required.
  • Maintain accurate records of completed works and ensure all tasks are carried out safely and in line with hotel standards.

This is a great opportunity for someone who takes pride in their craftsmanship, enjoys variety and wants to be part of the team behind a fresh, newly renovated hotel experience.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

You’re a practical, reliable and solutions-focused person who enjoys keeping things working, looking their best and running smoothly. You’ll take pride in your work and understand the importance of maintaining a high standard in a newly renovated hotel.

You’ll ideally bring:

  • Previous experience in a handyperson, maintenance or facilities role, preferably within a hotel or hospitality environment.
  • Practical skills across general repairs, carpentry, painting, basic plumbing and minor electrical work.
  • Confidence using a range of hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • A strong eye for detail and a proactive approach to identifying and solving maintenance issues.
  • Good organisation and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise multiple requests.
  • A strong commitment to workplace health and safety and maintaining clean, safe work areas.
  • A friendly, flexible and team-oriented approach, with a willingness to assist across the hotel when needed.
  • Availability to work occasional evenings, weekends or on-call shifts as required.
  • Relevant trade qualifications or certifications are desirable, but practical experience and a can-do attitude are just as important.
