Job Description

The Guest Activities Animator is responsible for organizing and delivering daily activities within the Resort Activities Department, including social programs, kids’ events, and guided experiences. This role is highly guest-facing, providing opportunities to develop confidence in leading groups, storytelling, and public speaking — all foundational skills for a future Apprentice Guide role.

A key component of this role is leading small-group e-bike tours to local landmarks, helping guests connect with the area’s natural and cultural history. The Animator will also assist in program development, maintaining activity areas, and supporting the department in operations and guest service excellence.


Pay Rate: $20.45/hour
Start Date: May 18, 2026
 

Key Responsibilities

Guest Experience & Group Facilitation

· Lead guided e-bike tours for groups of up to 8 guests, sharing knowledge about local landmarks, history, and ecology.

· Perform interpretive presentations and activities for groups of up to 50 guests, including indoor and outdoor programs.

· Assist and shadow Resort Activities Guides on interpretive and adventure programs to develop guiding skills.

· Deliver engaging activities for both adults and children, adapting to guest needs and group dynamics.

· Consistently provide professional, friendly, and engaging guest service.

Program Development & Training

· Collaborate with the team to develop, implement, and improve social and kids’ activities.

· Train other team members on activity execution and maintain consistency of guest experience.

· Begin creating and delivering small interpretive experiences under supervision to develop guiding skills.

Operational & Safety Responsibilities

· Organize activity spaces, maintain equipment, and ensure areas are clean, safe, and fully stocked.

· Assist with activity booking system updates and communications to ensure accurate guest information.

· Follow safety protocols, instruct guests in the use of equipment, and monitor compliance with hotel and government regulations.

· Support the department with other operational duties as required, including rental shop, health club, and Fairmont Fitness.

· Physically capable of frequent standing, walking, extended riding of an electronically assisted bike, lifting (up to 90 lbs), kneeling, pushing, and pulling.


Qualifications

· Minimum 1 year of experience facilitating recreational activities or guest programs.

· Comfortable leading groups, speaking in front of crowds, and using a microphone.

· Certification in CPR and First Aid required.

· Creative, energetic, highly responsible, and self-motivated.

· Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.

· Knowledge of the hotel, surrounding area, and National Parks is an asset.

· IGA Basic certification required

· IGA Apprentice Guide certification or interest in interpretive guiding is an asset.

· Class 4 driver’s license and experience operating small vehicles (for e-bike tours) is an asset.

 

Work Environment & Schedule

· Primarily 80% guest-facing, 20% administrative and operational support.

· Winter: heavy indoor programming; Summer: heavy outdoor programming.

· May require work on holidays, weekends, overnights, and non-day shifts.

· Fast-paced, luxury hotel environment with close collaboration across Resort Activities and hotel teams.
