Mercure Melbourne La Trobe Street is a new 4-star hotel development joining the Accor network. Situated at 488 La Trobe Street in the heart of West Melbourne, the hotel is ideally located near key Melbourne landmarks including Flagstaff Gardens, Queen Victoria Market, Docklands, and Etihad Stadium. 

This exciting new property will deliver a unique guest experience defined by spacious design, natural light, and modern convenience. We now have an outstanding opportunity for a passionate hotel professional to lead this hotel through pre-opening and launch as General Manager


Job Description

As General Manager, you will bring strong operational leadership and commercial insight to create a high-performing team and successful hotel opening. You’ll establish brand presence, embed Accor’s values, and ensure an exceptional guest journey from day one. 

In this role, you will be responsible for: 

  • Building a new leadership team and establishing full operational readiness for the hotel’s opening. 

  • Leading the overall strategic direction, commercial outcomes, and day-to-day performance of Mercure Melbourne La Trobe Street. 

  • Driving revenue growth and profitability through sound commercial strategies, including room yield, cost control, and service efficiency. 

  • Managing and fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders, including owners, guests, local community, and suppliers. 

  • Creating a workplace that aligns with Accor’s Heartist® culture and values. 

  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory, safety, and brand standards, while maintaining operational excellence across all departments. 


Qualifications

A tertiary qualification in Hotel Management, Hospitality, Commerce or Business Administration would be highly regarded. 

About You 

To be successful in this role, you will bring a strong leadership presence, strategic acumen, and deep understanding of hotel operations. 

You will also have: 

  • Prior experience as a General Manager, ideally having led a hotel through pre-opening or early-stage operations.

  • Demonstrated success in achieving strong commercial outcomes and market positioning.

  • A proven track record of building and nurturing high-performing teams. 

  • Exceptional interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, particularly with owners and partners. 

  • The ability to implement and manage effective project plans, operational systems, and guest experience strategies. 

  • A passion for delivering memorable guest experiences in line with the Mercure brand promise. 

  • Full Australian working rights.
