Hotel Morris Sydney - Handwritten Collection presents an exciting opportunity for a luxury-minded hotel professional to lead its team as General Manager, in one of the most unique and elegant boutique hotels in Sydney. Also known as the Host, you will have the chance to demonstrate your inspiring leadership abilities and strategic vision, while driving a highly engaged team to deliver a personalised guest experience. Your focus will be on elevating operational excellence and maximising performance, all while maintaining the hotel’s distinctive charm and intimate atmosphere. This is a rare opportunity to lead a boutique property that stands out for its blend of modern sophistication and timeless style.
We are looking for a leader who is a true service professional that will embrace the Handwritten brand – ensuring that guests experience a stay that feels as personal as a handwritten note, where the host's distinctive character and passions are woven into every detail, ensuring a truly memorable and authentic escape.
As General Manager you will be responsible for:
Leading the overall management and strategic direction of Hotel Morris Sydney, part of the Handwritten Collection
Building and nurturing strong relationships with key stakeholders, including guests, owners, and suppliers
Supporting all departments to achieve operational excellence and exceed performance targets
Maximising profitability while effectively managing financials to ensure long-term success
Championing employee engagement and fostering a collaborative, inclusive environment where every team member feels valued and inspired
A qualification in hotel management, hospitality management, commerce or business administration would be highly regarded.
About You
Previous experience as a General Manager is essential, preferably within a boutique hotel environment.
A proven leader with a strategic vision and demonstrated success in driving the commercial performance of the business and delivering on KPIs
Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop a small team of experienced professionals
Ability to deliver creative and innovative service experiences
Clear communication, creating impactful relationships with your team and guests
Fosters a strong, positive owner relationship
