Job Description

Are you ready to take your culinary career to new heights? We're seeking an innovative and passionate Executive Sous Chef to join our team in the vibrant city of Kathmandu, Nepal. As a key leader in our kitchen, you'll play a crucial role in delivering exceptional dining experiences while embracing the rich culinary traditions of Nepal.

  • Assist the Executive Chef in overseeing daily culinary operations across all kitchen areas, ensuring seamless coordination and maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation
  • Lead and inspire a team of talented culinary professionals, fostering a collaborative and motivational work environment
  • Develop innovative menu concepts that blend international cuisine with local Nepali flavors, showcasing your creativity and knowledge of food trends
  • Manage kitchen operations efficiently, including inventory control, cost management, and adherence to food safety standards
  • Collaborate closely with front-of-house teams to ensure exceptional guest experiences and maintain a customer-focused approach
  • Participate in menu planning, recipe development, and the creation of seasonal specials that highlight local ingredients
  • Oversee the training and professional development of kitchen staff, promoting a culture of continuous learning and growth
  • Assist in managing administrative tasks such as scheduling, payroll, and performance evaluations
  • Engage with guests, responding to feedback and ensuring memorable dining experiences
  • Contribute to the hotel's culinary marketing efforts, including participation in food-related events and promotions

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3+ years of progressive culinary experience in upscale dining, hotel, or resort environments
  • Culinary degree or equivalent professional training required
  • Proven track record in menu development, kitchen operations, cost control, and inventory management
  • Strong knowledge of food trends, culinary techniques, and food safety compliance
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience in team management and motivation
  • Proficiency in Nepali cuisine and familiarity with local ingredients and cooking techniques
  • Ability to work effectively in high-altitude conditions (Kathmandu is situated at an elevation of about 1,400 meters)
  • Creative mindset with a passion for culinary innovation and guest satisfaction
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality standards
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of Nepali language is a plus
