Job Description

The Dive Center & Water Sports Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all operations related to diving, snorkeling, and water sports activities, ensuring guest satisfaction, safety, and an outstanding level of service. This position involves supervising staff, maintaining equipment, organizing activities, and adhering to safety standards. The manager is also tasked with generating revenue through upselling activities and optimizing guest experiences in water sports and diving.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Management:

    • Oversee the daily operations of the Dive Center and Water Sports department, ensuring smooth functioning.
    • Coordinate dive schedules, water sports activities, and excursions based on guest preferences, weather, and equipment availability.
    • Ensure all activities comply with safety protocols and PADI regulations (or equivalent).
    • Manage inventory, maintain equipment, and ensure it is serviced regularly and up to standard.
  • Staff Management:

    • Supervise, train, and develop Dive Instructors, Water Sports Instructors, Boat Captains, and support staff.
    • Set performance targets for staff and ensure their consistent delivery of high-quality services.
    • Foster a positive team environment with regular team meetings, skill enhancement workshops, and performance reviews.
  • Guest Engagement:

    • Provide exceptional guest service, responding promptly to guest inquiries and requests.
    • Advise guests on available diving and water sports activities, ensuring the highest levels of safety and enjoyment.
    • Organize specialized activities like house reef snorkeling, sunset cruises, and water sports lessons (jet skiing, paddle boarding, etc.).
  • Safety & Compliance:

    • Maintain strict safety protocols for diving and water sports in line with industry standards and Resort policies.
    • Ensure all staff and guests are briefed on safety procedures prior to participation.
    • Monitor weather conditions and make safety-based decisions regarding the cancellation or rescheduling of activities.
  • Budget & Revenue Management:

    • Set financial goals for the Dive Center & Water Sports department, including revenue targets for activities.
    • Optimize profit margins through effective cost management
    • Prepare and monitor the department budget, identifying areas for cost reduction without compromising service.
  • Marketing & Upselling:

    • Collaborate with the marketing team to promote water sports and dive packages.
    • Create special events, promotions, and themed activities to attract more guests.
    • Maximize upselling opportunities, focusing on premium activities and excursions not included in all-inclusive packages.

Qualifications

 

  • PADI Dive Instructor certification (or equivalent).
  • First Aid, CPR, and Rescue Diver certification.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in dive center or water sports management.
  • Previous experience in a Resort environment is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of diving equipment, water sports gear, and boat operations.
  • Knowledge of the local marine environment, diving sites, and water sports regulations.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and resolve issues quickly.
  • Strong customer service orientation with the ability to engage and upsell activities to guests.
  • Fluency in English is required. Additional languages, especially those spoken by the resort's guest demographic, are a plus (e.g., French, Russian, Chinese).
