Company Description

Pullman Rotorua is looking for a passionate and motivated Demi Chef de Partie to join our professional Kitchen team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a chef who takes pride in producing high-quality food, enjoys working as part of a busy kitchen team, and is ready to continue developing their culinary career within an international hotel environment.

Reporting to the Executive Chef, you will take responsibility for an allocated section of the kitchen, ensuring food preparation, presentation and cooking techniques consistently meet our quality standards.


Job Description

What you'll be doing

As our Demi Chef de Partie, you will:

  • Organise and operate your allocated kitchen section efficiently and productively.
  • Prepare and cook menu and buffet items to established recipes and presentation standards.
  • Deliver food orders efficiently while maintaining quality and attention to detail.
  • Work across different kitchen sections when required, supporting a flexible and collaborative team environment.
  • Ensure food is stored, prepared and handled in accordance with food safety and hygiene requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe kitchen and work area.
  • Assist the Sous Chef and senior kitchen team in maintaining food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Monitor food preparation, portion control and wastage to help manage food costs.
  • Identify stock and product requirements and communicate these to your supervisor in advance.
  • Follow all workplace health, safety, fire and emergency procedures.
  • Contribute positively to the wider hotel team and Pullman's service culture.

Qualifications

We're looking for someone who brings a genuine passion for food and hospitality together with a positive, professional approach.

You'll ideally have:

  • Previous experience working in a professional commercial kitchen, ideally in a 5 star hotel.
  • Experience at Demi Chef de Partie, Commis Chef or a similar level.
  • Sound knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and kitchen operations.
  • A good understanding of food safety, hygiene and safe work practices.
  • The ability to work efficiently under pressure in a busy kitchen environment.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Flexibility to work across different kitchen sections.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn and develop.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays as required.
